This is a relatively common hybrid solution in thermal management design, and we are able to manufacture it according to customer requirements for custom CNC-machined cold plates.
The typical structure of this solution is as follows: the main body structure is made of aluminum alloy through CNC milling to form a complex, lightweight overall shape and mounting interfaces. At the same time, high-thermal-conductivity copper tubes are embedded in localized critical heat-generating areas or specific flow channels.
This design combines the advantages of both materials: the aluminum alloy provides good overall strength, low density (lightweight), and excellent CNC machinability. The embedded copper offers higher local thermal conductivity at key heat source locations, accelerating heat transfer. Therefore, it often allows for targeted improvement of thermal performance while controlling overall manufacturing costs, making it suitable for applications with concentrated high heat flux or strict temperature differential requirements. In practical project applications, whether to adopt such a hybrid design typically requires a comprehensive evaluation of specific heat load distribution, spatial constraints, weight requirements, and cost objectives to make a balanced decision.
